The existing aquarium Shyamprasad Mukherjee is an important part of the Zoological Gardens and is located in the Kasturba Gandhi Kindergarten, commonly known as Pakshig (Old Mini Zoo, Chowk Bazaar).

It includes a beautiful aquarium that contains 36 nos, 36 varieties of freshwater ornamental fishes, and clean and safe settings.

But the aquarium was destroyed in the 2006 floods.
