Situated in the vibrant city of Surat, India, the Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) stands as a prominent diamond trade center, showcasing a remarkable architectural design crafted by the renowned firm Morphogenesis.

This distinguished establishment holds the prestigious title of being the world’s largest diamond trading hub, encompassing an expansive floor space that spans an impressive 660,000 square meters (7,100,000 square feet).

As a testament to its grandeur, the Surat Diamond Bourse surpasses even the iconic Pentagon Shape, securing its position as the largest office building on a global scale. The sheer magnitude of this colossal structure not only underscores its significance in the realm of diamond commerce but also serves as a symbol of Surat’s prominence in the international diamond trade landscape.

Construction History

Commencing its inception in the year 2015, the Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) project embarked on a journey that would redefine the landscape of diamond trading.

Despite encountering a setback due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, which momentarily impeded the construction progress of SDB, the project’s momentum experienced a significant resurgence once pandemic-related lockdowns were lifted. Post-lockdown, a concerted effort was made to accelerate the pace of construction, steering the SDB project back on track.

This strategic push for completion became evident as the entire endeavor reached its culmination in the year 2022-23, marking a triumph over the challenges posed by the unprecedented events of the pandemic.

The timeline of the SDB project thus reflects not only resilience in the face of adversity but also the determination to deliver a monumental structure that stands as a testament to the vision and dedication invested in its realization.
